P: His purpose was to promote patriotism and to bring peace and unity to America. He was doing this to gear the country up for war. Also in the process he was trying to combat communism for in this time was the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also JFK was trying to prove to the American people that he was the best person for the job by taking a stand against communism and by making people believe in him because he was confident in the nation.

M: He was the first president to debate on television. By being on television he was broadcasted around the nation and that along with many other firsts made his presidency be nicknamed a new frontier. People got a first hand account on how cool under pressure he was by watching Nixon sweat and be unclean during the debates while JFK was cool, calm, and collected. Also his speech was recording proving its importance to people and how now it can be found virtually everywhere signifies how meaningful it was and still is.
